Northwestern Youth Soccer is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and instructional environment for every player. Participation in League events—whether as a parent, player, coach, or spectator—constitutes agreement to abide by the following standards of conduct.
1. Sportsmanship Expectations
All participants and spectators must demonstrate respect toward:
Referees & game officials
Coaches & volunteers
Players from both teams
Opposing spectators
Our referees are often young adults or high school students learning the role. They deserve encouragement & respect, not criticism.
2. Zero-Tolerance Behavior Policy
The following actions are strictly prohibited at any League function or field location(s):
Yelling at or confronting Referees
Arguing calls in an aggressive or disruptive manner
Use of profanity, insults, or threatening language
Taunting players, coaches, or spectators
Any conduct that disrupts the learning environment for the children
Any individual who violates this policy will be removed from the grounds immediately.
League officials reserve the right to impose additional disciplinary action, including suspension from future events. These expectations apply equally to parents, spectators, players, and coaches.
3. Sideline Responsibility
Parents and spectators are expected to model the behavior we want our athletes to learn—Respect, Composure, and Encouragement. The League will not tolerate conduct that places Referees, volunteers, or players in uncomfortable or unsafe situations.
4. Facility Policies
To maintain a family-friendly environment:
Smoking and vaping are prohibited anywhere on League grounds.
Pets are not permitted at games or practices.
Service animals trained to assist individuals with disabilities are welcome under the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act; however, for safety reasons they must remain off the playing fields and positioned safely to the side of active play areas -suggested distance is 10 yards from the sideline. This ensures the safety of our players as well as the safety of the service animal.
5. Shared Commitment
Northwestern Youth Soccer exists for the benefit of the children. Every adult present shares responsibility for protecting the positive, instructional, and sportsmanlike atmosphere that makes youth athletics meaningful.
Respect the Game. Respect the Players. Respect the Officials.
